This soap recipe, however, breaks both of those rules by using 100 percent coconut oil while increasing the superfat percentage to 20 percent. The pros of coconut oil and superfatting combine to cancel out the cons of using a high amount of coconut and using a high superfat percentage, resulting in a really lovely bar of soap.

Aug 28, 2020·You can make soap with any oil or combination of oils. If you substitute olive oil, you will need to recalculate the recipe. Changing an oil may change the lye amount. Go to SoapCalc and input your recipe. (Be sure to look at the superfat percent and change it to 20% or so for any soap this high in coconut oil.) Then click on view/print recipe.

Nowadays, even basic bar soap is full of strange, caustic chemicals and perfumes. I don't need any of that. I just need something that will clean my skin and leave it feeling nice and soft. Since your coconut oil percentage is so high, I wouldn’t recommend going below 15% superfat. Probably 20% is going to be best, if you don’t want a bar that is drying.
